THIS WEEK: The University of Utah women's tennis team heads to Provo, Utah to compete in the BYU Invitational Oct. 11-13. The Utes will square off against Boise State, BYU, Washington State and Colorado. Match times have not been scheduled, but this event will last all day.
THE UTES: Last week, the Utes faced off against Weber State, Utah State and Southern Utah in the Utah Invitational. Utah's own Linn Ronnberg and Irini Kotoglou took second place in doubles, after being defeated by Therina SteenKamp and Dana DeLancey from Weber State, 8-5. In singles competition, seventh-seeded Sheri Esrock advanced to the semifinals. After three close matches, Esrock fell to DeLancey, 2-6, 7-5, 6-3.
COMING UP: The Utes will travel to Tulsa, Okla. to compete in the Central Region Championship. This tournament dates are: Oct. 24-28, times are all day.
QUOTING COACH John Tsumas: "I think the competition in Provo will be very strong. I hope we have learned from our mistakes in the previous tournament. This is going to be a great test for us and I'm looking forward to it."
