SALT LAKE CITY - As the fourth and final day of the Utah Invitational came to a close, the University of Utah women's tennis team fell to in-state rival Weber State. Utah's own Linn Ronnberg and Irini Kotoglou were defeated by first-seeded Therina SteenKamp and Dana DeLancey from Weber State, 8-5. The Utes jumped out in front early, by taking a 3-1 advantage, but couldn't hold on as Weber State secured the victory.
In singles competition, Weber State's SteenKamp and DeLancey squared off against each other in the championship match. SteenKamp defeated teammate DeLancey in four straight sets.
Next up for the Utes is the BYU Invitational, which will be held Oct. 11-13. Utah will be competing against BYU, Boise State, Washington State and Colorado. Match times have not been decided, but this event will last all day.
