TULSA, Okla.- - The University of Utah's women's tennis team finished day two of the Central Region Championship. Sheri Esrock defeated Rebeka Harvey from Nebraska, 6-3, 4-6, (10-6), to advance to the second round. In the second round Esrock faced off against Oklahoma State's Dominques Olszewska. After a hard fought match set Esrock was defeated by Olszewska, 6-3, 6-0. Irini Kotoglou wasn't able to compete and had to declare a default against Yanick Dullens from Denver in the first round. After two tough sets Utah's Cassie Kasteler was defeated by Wyoming's Jenny Bowman, 7-5, 6-2.
In doubles action, the Kasteler and Ellen Svensson duo went head to head against instate rival and No. 13 ranked Dominique Reynolds and Lindsey Ferrell from BYU in the second round of competition. Kasteler and Svensson advanced to the second round by defeating Sarah Blain and Molly Sanders from Montana, 8-1. But the Utes couldn't quite hold on as Kasteler and Svensson were defeated by Reynolds and Ferrell, 8-6.
Day three of the tournament will continue Saturday, Oct 27, at 9:00 a.m. Sunday, Oct 28, competition times are still to be determined.
