LAS VEGAS - UNLV won four of six singles matches to rally past Utah in a battle of Mountain West Conference teams at the Fertitta Tennis Complex Friday.
The Rebels improved to 6-10 and 4-0 in league play while the Utes fell to 6-9 overall while dropping to 1-2 in the conference.
Utah began the day by taking two of three doubles matches for one team point. The two wins were earned by the No. 1 tandem of Trevor Ferguson and David Mercier and the No. 3 pair of Ashley Dyer and David Laverty.
UNLV, however, proceeded to win four matches in straight sets to clinch the victory. The Utes fell short as Trevor Ferguson and Kevin Zenger were the only Utah netters to earn wins.
The Utes season continues this week as they host their last match of the season against instate rival Weber State.
