SALT LAKE CITY - Utah's men's tennis team (4-6) lost its third consecutive match last night, falling to San Diego 5-2.
David Carlsson and David Laverty picked up singles victories in the nos. 4 and 5 spots respectively. Both matches were won by decisive third sets. Carlsson ousted Sean Cooper, 3-6, 6-3, 6-0, while Laverty downed Ray Van Wasbeek 5-7, 7-5, 6-1. No. 2 player, Ashley Dyer pushed Ricardo Rizo to three-sets, but fell just short, 7-6, 6-7, 7-5, in a thrilling match.
San Diego picked up the doubles point by sweeping doubles play.
The Utes are 0-2 on a five-match road trip along the west coast, which continues today at Southern California.
