Albuquerque, N.M. - The University of Utah women's volleyball team finished it's MWC schedule with a 3-0, 15-10, 15-7, 15-6 win over the New Mexico Lobos at Albuquerque, N.M. on Sat., Nov. 11. Utah improves to 19-6 overall, 10-4 in the MWC. New Mexico falls to 9-15 on the season, 5-9 in Mountain West Conference play.
Senior Jen Snow-Richards led Utah with 10 kills for a .348 hitting percentage. Sophomore Katrena Ellett totaled nine kills for a .304 hitting percentage and 12 digs. Lenka Urbanova added six kills and 12 digs and senior setter Lucie Turkova posted eight kills, 33 assists and eight digs. As a team Utah had a .229 hitting percentage and added six total team blocks.
Jessie Goffard led the Lobos with eight kills and 10 digs. Erika Sansoni led the team with 15 digs and teammate Kelly Griffin posted 18 assists. New Mexico hit for only .072 and added five total team blocks.
"I am really pleased that we could come on this road trip and win both of these matches in three games because it was a tough road trip travel wise and it is late in the season," said Head Coach Beth Launiere. "The team stepped it up this weekend and is excited about the upcoming Mountain West Conference Tournament."
In other news, Utah Head Coach Beth Launiere needs just one more win to hit the 200 career-win mark.
UP NEXT: The Utes will travel to Fort Collins, Colo. on Nov. 15-18 to compete for the Mountain West Conference Tournament crown. On Nov. 22, Utah will face Weber State in Ogden, Utah at 7:00 p.m. (MST). The Utes end their regular-season at home with a match against non-conference opponent Denver on Sat., Nov. 25, at 1:00 p.m. (MST).
