This Week:
The Utes play their second match in a two game home series, on Mar.
11 against Northern Arizona. Last year, Utah swept the Lumberjacks,
winning the six singles and the three doubles matches.
Following their match against Northern Arizona, the Utes leave on the longest road trip of their season. Beginning on Mar. 13, Utah plays five matches within seven days, beginning in Malibu, Calif., against Pepperdine, and finishing against Dartmouth, in San Diego, Calif..
Last Week:
Utah has been on a slide, dropping three straight, and four out of
its last five matches. Competition has been tough as the Utes have
faced two nationally ranked teams in the past week.
On Monday, Mar. 1, Utah fell to #25 California, 6-1, then to #1 Stanford on Mar. 2, 7-0. Boise State, who the Utes played on Mar. 5, has also been in and out of this year's national rankings, climbing as high as 18th. Utah lost to the Bengals, 5-2.
Utes to Watch:
Senior Adam Eke has played strong in singles play for the Utes over
the last two weeks. His first dual match win of the year came on
Feb. 27 against Josh Ganza of St. Mary's, 6-2, 6-2, helping the Utes
to a 6-1 win. Eke came up with another win on Mar. 6, against Andrew
Roomleh from Boise State, 3-6, 7-6, 6-4. Eke is 2-2 in dual matches,
and 5-6 overall.
Ashley Dyer continues his hot streak at the No. 2 position for the Utes. Dyer currently holds a 6-3 dual record, with a big win on Mar. 2 against California's Eric Dmytruk. Dmytruk is ranked 27th in Region VIII. Dyer has been filling in at No. 2 for injured senior Philippe Rodrigue.
