About the Cougars:
No. 45 Brigham Young is 4-12 overall (2-3 WAC). The Cougars have played a grueling schedule against top opponents such as, No. 1 Florida and No. 2 Duke. Tara Ferguson has a 16-12 record playing at No. 2, 4 and 5, to post the Cougars best individual mark.
About the Utes:
Utah split its opening weekend in WAC play against Rice and Colorado State. Megan Payne remains with only one blemish in the spring season and is ranked No. 65 nationally. Heidi Thomas, other than Payne, was the only other Ute to sweep opponents in singles play during the weekend. Thomas/Molly Sanderson and Brooke Wilkinson/Linn Ronnberg have given the Utes two strong teams in doubles competition of late.

Colorado State in the season finale at the Eccles Tennis Center.
Molly Sanderson, in her final Ute home match, won a three-set
thriller over Heidi Auvinen, 4-6, 7-5, 6-4. Megan Payne cruised at
No. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-1 over Alana Colglazier. Linn Ronnberg defeated
Allison Lisle in No. 3 action, 6-2, 6-0, while Heidi Thomas and Irini
Kotoglou earned victories at No. 5 and No. 6 singles.
Sanderson/Thomas held on at No. 2 doubles for an 8-6 win, and
Wilkinson/Ronnberg posted an 8-2 win at No. 3.
Salt Lake City-Utah's women's tennis team fell 5-4 to Rice in its Western Athletic Conference opener in the Eccles Tennis Center on Saturday. The Utes needed to win all three doubles matches to gain the victory, but came up one shy. Megan Payne and Heidi Thomas were the lone singles winners at No. 1 and No. 5 respectively, while Thomas/Molly Sanderson and Brooke Wilkinson/Linn Ronnberg earned doubles wins at No. 2 and No. 3.
