Tesch's inaugural season with the women's team also produced more wins than in the two previous years combined and its best winning percentage since 1990. The Utes finished ninth at the WAC Championships. The men's team, also coached by Tesch, now in his sixth year, logged a 6-5-1 mark (4-2-1 WAC) in 1998. It was the most wins for Utah since 1995, when Tesch led the team to a 7-1 record and the WAC Championship. The Utes finished fourth at the WAC Championships last year.
