SALT LAKE CITY - Utah improved it's record to 6-2 on the year Wednesday night as they downed the Idaho State Bengals, 7-0. Utah is undefeated at home this year, and currently have a winning streak of two including Monday's victory over BYU. At the No. 1 singles position, senior Paul McPherson broke a three game losing streak, downing George Kynernitis, 6-2, 6-2. At the No. 2 position, Ute junior Ben Coates handled Rodney Cook, 6-1, 7-6, followed by Alex Buxton's three set victory over Erkki Torm, 7-6, 3-7, 7-6. Utah's No. 4 seeded Ryan Snow outlasted Bob Axtell 7-6, 6-3 and Ute newcomer Adam Eke defeated Simmo Sommer 6-3, 5-7, 7- 6. Kevin Zenger, playing in his first ever singles match at the collegiate did it in victorious fashion as he outplayed George Devinche, 6-2, 6-4.
In doubles play, Utah claimed the point by winning two of the three doubles matches. Utah's duo of Coates and Rodrigue downed Cook and Axtell, 8-3, and McPherson and Snow defeated Marlowe and Kyneritis, 8-3. Idaho State's only match victory was scored by the tandem of Sommer and Torm as they handled Eke and Zenger, 9-8.
