PROVO, Utah - In its first fall tournament, the battered Ute women's tennis team took only three girls to the Brigham Young University Invitational.
No. 81 Megan Payne, Linn Ronnberg, and Brooke Wilkinson were the lone Utes to compete in the inaugural tournament, with Payne-Wilkinson bringing home third place at No. 1 doubles.
Payne -Wilkinson defeated Veronica Reynosa and Dana Delancey of Weber State 8-3 to win the consolation finals. They upended Wyoming's Roberts-Espinosa, 9-8 (6-1) in the first round.
The three are still alive in singles action tomorrow, with Payne and Ronnberg playing for third place in No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, while Wilkinson competes for fifth place at No. 3.
