Christine McBeath is about to begin her third season as an assistant coach with the Utah soccer program. She joined the staff in July of 2021, joining head coach Hideki Nakada from Stanford.
McBeath's work in her second year in Salt Lake City helped the squad increase its win percentage, both overall and in conference play. Her work with Utah's backline helped the Utes reduce their goals against average from 1.50 to 1.21 and they reduced their average number of shots allowed per game from 13.0 to 11.4.
In her first year as a Ute, McBeath helped guide Utah to an increased win total from 2020 to 2021. She focused on the backline that limited opponents to 1.1 goals per game and limited to 129 shots at Ute Field. The backline was anchored by a duo of underclassmen Ragan Fuller and Maryn Granger, who return for the 2022 season.
McBeath comes to Salt Lake City after spending the 2020 season on The Farm as a volunteer assistant. During her time in California, McBeath was the girl’s academy head coach for the Palo Alto Soccer Club during the 2021 season.
A former standout from St. John's, she started in 55-of-66 games and was a mainstay for the Red Storm backline. After seeing action in 11 games her first year, McBeath won the starting position and started every game for the rest of her career at St. John's.
In addition to serving as team captain her senior year, McBeath took full advantage of her time as a student-athlete and served on the executive board of St John's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). She was also involved in the BIG EAST Conference's "It's on Us" campaign for sexual assault prevention awareness and served for Community Mayors in New York City, an organization dedicated to hosting events for special needs children in the area.
McBeath, who currently holds a USSF "C" license, graduated from St. John's with a degree in finance from the Tobin College of Business in December of 2019.
