IRVING, Texas -- The Utah Utes are prominently represented among the best and brightest in the Big 12 Conference as the league today released the Dr. Gerald Lage Academic Achievement Award recipients, the 2025-26 Academic All-Big 12 Rookie team and 2026 Spring Big 12 All-Academic team. The Utes made a strong impact both in competition and in the classroom in their second year in the Big 12, and this week's awards put an exclamation point on a highly-successful year for Utah Athletics.
The 2026 Dr. Gerald Lage Academic Achievement Award, the Big 12's highest academic honor, featured 22 Utah student-athletes who achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.80 while lettering at least once in their career and maintaining residence at their institution for at least one academic year. A total of 63 Utah student-athletes from six Big-12 sponsored sports earned recognition on the Spring Academic All-Big 12 team, including a conference-leading seven in women's tennis, tying four other teams. Utah's men's lacrosse team has affiliate membership in the ASUN Conference, and is not represented among the sports honored this spring. The full list can be found

The Big 12 Academic All-Rookie team for 2025-26 features 47 Utah Utes who met the qualifications of being new, first-time/incoming freshmen who completed 24 semester hours of non-remedial coursework and achieved a cumulative GPA of at least 3.00. Qualifiers also must have participated in at least one of their team's scheduled contests and be a part of their team for its entire NCAA Championship segment. Click

Utah Athletics achieved excellence in the classroom, competition and the community in 2025-26, tying for the best graduation success rate (GSR) in department history with a score of 95-percent in the NCAA GSR metric. It marked the second year in a row at 95-percent, and third time in school history, all during Director of Athletics
Mark Harlan's eight years leading the Utes. It is Utah's eighth consecutive year at 93-percent or better. Utah's student-athletes registered their
best academic year in 2025-26, producing a department-record 3.441 average GPA. In addition,
99 student-athletes graduated in either fall 2025, spring 2026 or summer 2026.
The Utah Ski Team won the NCAA Championship for the second year in a row in 2026, and the seventh time in the past nine years, increasing its all-time total to 18 national championships. The Utes were led by a pair of individual national champions,
Johs Braathen Herland (Giant Slalom) and
Mons Melbye (Nordic-Freestyle).
In all seven Utah athletics programs qualified for either the NCAA Championships or a bowl game, one shy of the school record for a competition year, and three programs combined to claim four conference championships—gymnastics (Big 12 regular season and championship meet), skiing (RMISA championship meet) and lacrosse (ASUN regular season).
