SALT LAKE CITY – Utah's women's basketball head coach Gavin Petersen announced the signing of freshman Emma Petrie, a 6-2 forward from Queensland, Australia.
"We are very excited to have Emma Petrie join our Utah family," Petersen said. "Emma brings versatility, confidence and toughness in her game and we welcome that. Her perimeter play, as a stretch forward, comes with the ability to be an elite shooter and decision maker in our system. She comes from a distinguished basketball family back in Australia, and she knows what it takes to be successful at a high level."
Petrie played with her national team in the 2024 FIBA U17 Women's Basketball World Cup and the 2022 FIBA U15 Women's Oceania Championship. During the 2022 FIBA Championship, she helped her team win the gold medal and averaged 5.9 points per game and 3.4 rebounds per game. She was also a six-time Queensland state representative.
Petrie played three seasons with the NBL1 Women's Gold Coast. In 2025 with Gold Coast she averaged 10.2 points per game, 7.8 rebounds including 5.2 defensive rebounds. She shot 51.7% from the field.
