ORLANDO, Fla. –The Utah women's basketball team notches another road win to the tally as the Utes came away with a 67-57 victory in Addition Financial Arena over UCF Wednesday evening.
Utah now has a 16-7 overall record and sits at 7-4 in Big 12 play. The Utes are now 8-1 on the road this season. Utah was led by Lani White's second consecutive 20-point game as she put up 22 points and Maty Wilke tied her season-high with 18 points including five made from deep.
GAME SUMMARY Utah had a glacial start to start to the game but managed to pull ahead for an 11-10 lead at the end of the first quarter.
The Utes found a spark of momentum in the second quarter and went on a 12-2 run with seven of those points going unanswered as the Knights went on a four minute scoring drought. Utah kept pushing and pulled ahead for a 29-22 lead going into the halftime break.
Both teams started slow in the third quarter with both teams going on a two minute scoring drought. UCF got on the board first but Utah answered with a 10-3 run sparked by a made three from Lani White. The Utes held the Knights to just three made field goals in the third quarter and surged for a 12-point lead going into the final quarter of play.
Utah was able to keep UCF at arms length for the entirety of the fourth quarter to pull out the 67-57 win in Orlando.
LEADERS Utah had two Utes score in double figures and were led by Lani White's 22 points while Maty Wilke tied her season-high of 18 including five made from beyond the arc. Evelina Otto had a perfect game from the free throw line going 4-of-4.
Reese Ross led the Utes with nine rebounds while Chyra Evans led the Utes with three assists.
COMPARISON Utah shot 42.1% from the field while UCF shot 39.3%. Utah went 40.0% from three knocking down 10-of-25 while UCF shot 35.7% going 5-of-14. At the free-throw line, Utah shot 90.0% going 9-of-10 while UCF shot 75.0% converting 12-of-16.
Utah had 15 assists on 24 made field goals while UCF had 10 assists on 20 made field goals. The Knights narrowly outrebounded the Utes 37-36 with UCF pulling down 12 offensive boards to Utah's eight. The Utes outscored the Knights on the fastbreak 14-8.
UP NEXT Utah will return to the Jon M. Huntsman Center after being on the road for two straight games to host Iowa State Feb. 7. The Utes ping pong between home and road games the remainder of the season heading to Tempe, Ariz. to take on Arizona State. Feb. 11 and then returning home to host Cincinnati in the Elaine Elliott Legacy game on Feb. 14.
