Opening Statement…
First home game of the year on Saturday. A lot of good things in the game. Maybe not quite as clean in some aspects, but [cleaner] in others. I don't think we had a rhythm and a groove on offense as well as we did the week before. That was evidenced by punting. We punted [three] times in this past game, where, last week, we punted once. However, another game of zero turnovers, which is great. Defense, better tackling, we only missed four tackles the entire game and that was a step forward in that regard. A few more penalties than we had the week before, so that was something not as clean as well, but overall, we took care of business. We came out of the game fairly healthy and it's now on to Wyoming. A road trip up in Laramie is no stranger to our coaching staff, but I would doubt any of our players have played [there, other than] Justin Stevenson, our receiver, obviously played there. Otherwise, I'm not sure many of our guys have been to Laramie, Wyoming to play a game, so it'll be a new experience for them. I thought Devon [Dampier] performed well again. He's around 80% completion percentage for the season, which is outstanding. We knew that was something that we wanted to work on and he worked diligently at that. It's only two games. You can't get too far ahead of ourselves, but through two games, he has definitely made big strides in that regard, as well as protecting the football.
