National award presented to college football’s premier student-athlete
IRVING, Texas — Utah offensive lineman Jaren Kump has been named a semifinalist for the 2025 William V. Campbell Trophy, the National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame announced on Wednesday.
Â
The Campbell Trophy, presented to college football's premier student-athlete, recognizes an individual as the absolute best football scholar-athlete in the nation for his combined academic success, football performance and exemplary leadership.
Â
Kump is one of 177 total players to be named a semifinalist. The NFF will announce 12-16 finalists on Oct. 22 before the award presentation at the 67th NFF Annual Awards Dinner on Dec. 9.
Â
Candidates for the award must be a senior or graduate student in their final year of playing eligibility, have a GPA of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale, have outstanding football ability as a first team player or significant contributor, and have demonstrated strong leadership and citizenship.
Â
Kump is the fourth Ute to be named a semifinalist for the award and the first since R.J. Hubert in 2022. A team member since 2020, Kump has played in 50 career games at Utah and has made 32 starts, starting at each position on the offensive line. Entering the season, the Riverton native was one of five known FBS players since 2010 to start at all five offensive line spots. He has started 15 of 16 games at center dating back to the start of the 2024 season.
Â
Voted one of four team captains and one of 12 players named to the leadership council ahead of the 2025 season, Kump graduated from Utah in 2023 with his bachelor's degree in health and kinesiology. He is pursuing his master's degree in the same program.
Â
Kump was also named to the Rimington Trophy Watchlist earlier this season, presented annually to the most outstanding center in college football.
