SALT LAKE CITY – Utility player Kate Blunt has made her commitment to Utah softball official, the program announced on Friday.
"We're excited to add Kate Blunt to our program," said coach
Amy Hogue. "She's a true athlete with a strong background in both baseball and softball. She's a smooth defender with a great arm, a strong work ethic, and a clear love for the game. We can't wait to get her here this fall!"
Blunt arrives in Salt Lake City after four seasons with the UCLA Bruins, three of which included trips to the Women's College World Series. Her final year with the Bruins was her busiest, as she appeared in 12 games and logged four hits in 10 at-bats with a pair of doubles. She also crafted a 1.000 fielding percentage.
Blunt's career on the diamond also includes time with the U.S. Women's Baseball National Team. She first saw action with the squad in 2019, when she appeared in three games and helped her team win gold at the COPABE Women's Pan American Championships. In 2024, she threw a scoreless inning of relief for the national team at the WBSC Women's Baseball World Cup Finals.
This is the second time the Utes have delved into the transfer portal in 2025. They added former California pitcher
Anna Reimers in May.
