LOS ANGELES – The Utah men's basketball team will compete in the inaugural College Basketball Crown Tournament in Las Vegas, Nev., starting with Butler on Monday, March 31, at 1 p.m. (MT) / NOON (MT) local inside a familiar venue in the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
First round action of the College Basketball Crown will air on FS1 with Tim Brando on the call alongside Donny Marshall with Nick Bahe roaming the sidelines as the Runnin' Utes look to continue postseason play.
Utah is 1-3 against Butler all-time with BU taking the last meeting 81-69 in Indianapolis. Butler enters the inaugural tournament 14-19 overall and 6-14 in Big East play. Utah's lone win over the Butler came on Dec. 5, 1964, in Salt Lake City – 95-66.
Should the Utes defeat the Bulldogs, they'll face off against the winner of George Washington (21-12, 9-9 A10) and Boise State (24-10, 14-6 MWC) on Wednesday, April 2, at 5 p.m. (MT) / 4 p.m. (PT) local on FS1 in the quarterfinal game.
The Utes are 4-4 all-time against Boise State with the Broncos taking the last two meetings. Meanwhile, Utah and George Washington have never squared off on the hardwood floor in program history should the two win its opening-round match-ups.
