Utah Beach Volleyball Opens Season with Two Dominant Victories

First time in program history the Utes have started the season 2-0
DAVIS, Calif. – Utah Beach Volleyball opened its 2025 season with a doubleheader sweep at the UC Davis Weekend starting with a 4-1 victory over tournament host UC Davis, followed by a 5-0 win over San Jose State. This is the first time in program history the Utes have started a season with a 2-0 record.
The Utes saw success across multiple matchups in their first matchup against UC Davis, with Chloe Narancich and Milan Ray battling through three sets to earn the first win of the season at the No. 5 spot (16-21, 21-18, 15-9). Utah's top pair, Katie McAlister and Quincy Stephens, put together a dominant performance, taking down their UC Davis opponents in straight sets (21-14, 21-15). Utah continued its strong play in the No. 2 and No. 4 spots, with Langley Griffin and Bella Vezzani securing a tight first set before pulling away in the second (23-21, 21-11), while Ellyn Collins and Kylie Pitzak edged out their opponents in two close sets (21-18, 21-19). The lone loss of the match came at No. 3, where Maeve Griffin and Lauren Sayre pushed UC Davis to extra points in the first set but ultimately fell in straight sets (23-25, 16-21).
In Utah's matchup against SJSU, the Utes delivered a dominant performance, securing a 5-0 sweep. No. 1 pair Katie McAlister and Quincy Stephens continued their strong play with a 21-18, 21-19 victory. Langley Griffin and Bella Vezzani followed suit, winning 21-15, 21-18. Maeve Griffin and Lauren Sayre added another straight-set win, 21-19, 21-14. Ellyn Collins and Kylie Pitzak battled through a three-set thriller, edging out their opponents 13-21, 25-23, 15-13.
