SEATTLE, Wash. – Inconsistent play on both ends of the court for the Utah Women's Basketball team tonight against the Washington Huskies resulted in a 78-61 road loss with Utah falling to 5-14 overall this season and 4-14 in Pac-12 play.

Utah's offense struggled to get going in the first half, shooting 35-percent from the floor while committing seven turnovers with Washington just missing one from beyond the arc in the half (6-7), shooting 48-percent overall. The Utes were able to hold Washington to just 22-percent shooting from deep in the second half while shooting 42-percent themselves, but the Huskies' large lead late in the game was too much for Utah to overcome.

Washington was able to take an eight-point lead on a 7-0 run in the first quarter, going a perfect 4-for-4 from the three in the period. The Utes made it a six-point game on a three from freshman Kennady McQueen with under a minute to play, but would head into the second quarter down 23-15 on a last second jumper from the Huskies.

Sophomore Lola Pendande and McQueen combined to score Utah's first nine points of the second quarter, making it a three-point game with 6:56 to go in the period. Unfortunately for the Utes, they would go over five minutes without a field goal with the Huskies jumping out to a double-digit lead, eventually taking a 41-31 lead into halftime.

Utah was able to chip away at the Washington lead in the third quarter on a 7-0 run to make it 53-46 on back-to-back buckets from freshman Kelsey Rees. Washington answered though, going on an 8-0 run while holding the Utes scoreless for the final 3:27 to take a 61-46 advantage into the final quarter of the game.

Utah scored five unanswered points early in the fourth quarter, capped off by a strong drive in the paint from McQueen to make it a nine-point game, but turnovers would plague the Utes down the stretch with Washington able to earn the 17-point victory.

GAME LEADERS
The Utes were balanced in scoring tonight with six different players scoring at least five points, including two double-digit scorers.

Utah was led by sophomore Brynna Maxwell, who scored 16 points on four made three-pointers and four free throws, also added three rebounds, four assists and a team-high two steals. McQueen also recorded 10 points on 4-of-7 shooting, knocking down two of Utah's 10 threes on the night.

"Tonight was tough. I thought our energy today was good and our effort was there, we just shot really poorly. Hard to win on the road in this league shooting 50-percent from the free throw line and a poor percentage from players that have shot the ball well all season. Just one of those unfortunate games. Credit to Washington, they played well."

STANDOUT STATS

Utah knocked down three of its 10 made three-pointers in the first 40 seconds of the second, third and fourth quarters (Q2, Kennady McQueen, 9:29; Q3, Brynna Maxwell, 9:40; Q4, Kemery Martín, 9:51).
Kennady McQueen reached double-digits for the third time this season with her 10 tonight.
Tonight was the fifth time this season Utah has shot in the double-digits from beyond the arc, knocking down 10.
Brynna Maxwell knocked down a season-high tying four from beyond the arc. It is the 13^th time this season she has hit two-or-more from three and the 38^th time in her 50 career games.
