Duo both named to All-Pac-12 Second Team
SAN FRANCISCO – Utah senior Adora Anae and sophomore Dani Barton were both named to the 2018 Pac-12 Beach Volleyball All-Conference Team, the league announced on Thursday. Both student-athletes earned second team honors.
Â
This marks Barton's second-consecutive second team honor after being named All-Pac-12 as a freshman last season. This is the first Pac-12 beach volleyball honor for Anae.
Â
Anae and Barton played together as Utah's No. 1 pairing all season long, going 10-7 overall, which included a 1-2 effort in the Pac-12 Championship last week. After dropping their first two duals of the season, Anae and Barton would go on to pick up its first win against Loyola Marymount's No. 1 pairing, which was ranked the No. 34 pairing in the nation, according to CollegeBeachVB.com.
Â
Anae and Barton would later close out the regular season winning seven straight duals and pushed the streak to eight straight following a dual win over Oregon's Lindsey Vander Weide and August Raskie in the Pac-12 Championships. The duo's best win of the season was a two-set victory over Long Beach State's Nele Barber and Sasha Karelov, who were ranked No. 13 at the time.
Â
Utah finished the beach volleyball season going 5-12 overall. The five victories is a new school single-season record, after winning two matches in the Utes' inaugural season a year ago. Â
