LOS ANGELES - Utah's diving team capped a solid weekend at the UCLA Diving Invitational this evening as Jacob Crayne and Amanda Casillas paced the Utes.
"We had a great start to the second half of the season," said Utah head diving coach Richard Marschner. "Connor and Lauren both set personal bests and recieved their NCAA zone qualification scores. Josiah set a personal best as well on three meter. The team is looking good and we're set up for a great stretch run."
Crayne capped a solid weekend with a win in the 1-meter event after finishing second in the 3-meter event on Friday and the platform on Saturday.
Crayne earned the victory today with a total score of 746.85. He was second after the preliminary round but was able to surpass USC's Collin Pollard. Josiah Purss also earned a top-five finish with a score of 639.35.
In the women's platform event, which consisted of five dives, Casillas placed fourth, jumping three spots after her preliminary tries. The junior finished with a score of 483.05. She finished sixth in the 1-meter and 3-meter events on Friday and Saturday.
