SALT LAKE CITY - With the 2015-16 Utah swim/dive season still a few months from getting underway, Ute swimmers are fairing well at their respective international events this summer.
Junior breast-stroker Stina Colleou just completed the Norwegian National Championships, winning both the 100 and 200 breaststroke events and setting new personal best times. Her times in both events were under the Fina Olympic B qualifying standard, as well. While the spot it not guaranteed, Colleou is now in consideration for Norway's Olympic team. She also managed to earn fourth-place in the 50 breast event.
Sophomore breast-stroker and IM swimmer, Ganem Tebet, won the 200 breast at the Mexican Nationals last week and also finished fourth overall in the 400 IM.
Rounding out Utah's international scene, senior Kristian Kron is currently competing for Team Sweden at the World University Games in Korea. Kron, who swims the back, free and IM for the Utes, finished 18th overall in the 200 IM and will compete in the 200 back event on Wednesday. He will then round out the games with the 800 free relay on Thursday and the 400 IM on Friday.
*Update for Kristian Kron (Wednesday, 12:30 p.m.)
Kron qualified for the semifinals, placing 15th overall in the 200 back at the World University Games. He then placed sixth in the second semifinal, but did not qualify for Thursday night's final.
