Pac-12 Announces Swimming & Diving All-Academic Teams

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. -- A combined 18 student-athletes from Utah's men's and women's swimming & diving teams were named to the Pac-12 All-Academic Teams, the league office announced on Thursday.
The women's team tallied four first team members, a second team honoree and three honorable mentions nods, while the men's team registered six first team honorees, three second team selections and one honorable mention nod. The six first team selections on the men's side were second most -- just one shy of Stanford's seven first team selections.
First team honorees on the women's side included seniors Amanda Barrett, Jasmine Matkovic and Melissa Paakh, along with sophomore Amanda Casillas. Sophomore Brianna Francis was a second team selection, while senior Giuliana Gigliotti, junior Petra Soininen and sophomore Stina Colleou were each tabbed honorable mention.
On the men's side, senior Nick Soedel, juniors Jacob Crayne, Dave Fraser and Bence Kiraly, along with sophomores Evan Indahl and Keanu Interone were each named first team selections. Seniors Alex Brown and Alex Fernandes, along with junior Brandon Young were tabbed second team selections, while junior Kristian Kron was named a honorable mention selection.
To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and participate in at least half of their team's scheduled regular season events.
