SALT LAKE CITY--
Utah gymnastics signee Baely Rowe won the all-around title at the 2013 Junior Olympic National Championships in Minneapolis on May 11. It marks the third J.O. national championship for Rowe, who will join the Utes next month. She was the J.O. national champion on the uneven bars in 2010 and 2012, and placed second in the all-around in 2012.
It's been a good year for Utah's sole incoming recruit (the Utes return all 13 gymnasts from last season's NCAA qualifier). In April, Rowe won the 2013 Region 2 all-around championship and also captured all four individual event titles. The Federal Way, Wash., native was the state all-around, vault, bars and beam champion and the runner-up on floor. She also won the all-around at the 2013 Emerald Team Challenge and the 2013 MetroPlex Challenge.
Rowe will move to Salt Lake City soon after graduating from Auburn Riverside High School. She'll be the third member of her family to compete for a Pac-12 school. Her brother Kelyn played soccer at UCLA, where he was the 2011 Pac-12 Player of the Year, and now plays for the New England Revolution of Major League Soccer. Sister Bree played soccer for Oregon from 2007-2010. Baely also played soccer until her freshman year, when she decided to dedicate herself solely to gymnastics.
