SALT LAKE CITY - Utah senior wide receiver Sean Fitzgerald has been selected to the Capital One Academic All-District team, announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Fitzgerald will be placed on the national ballot for Academic All-America honors.
Fitzgerald, who has a double major in accounting and communications, has a 3.64 cumulative grade point average. He ranks second on the team in receiving yards (376) and touchdown catches (4) while ranking third on the team in receptions (24). Fitzgerald had a season-high 87 yards with two touchdowns against Weber State. His 80-yard touchdown catch in the game is the 10th-longest reception in Utah history.
Individuals are selected through voting by CoSIDA, a 2,000-member organization consisting of sports public relations professionals for colleges and universities in the United States and Canada.
