Utah Coach Kyle Whittingham
"It's a tough loss obviously. I'm extremely proud of the team. The guys hung in there and fought and battled every step of the way. There was no quit in those guys whatsoever. We did have our chances. In no way am I trying to paint the picture of a moral victory. There are no such things in my mind.
"I thought we played good defense. We got three takeaways, a couple in the red zone or near it. That was critical for the defense to get those stops.
"Offensively we started a little slow but picked up some rhythm as the game went on. I thought Jordan did a nice job.
"Down there at the end, 11 seconds, no timeouts. Do you run one more play or do you not. If you run one more and get tackled in bounds, I don't think you have a chance to clock it and get the clock stopped. You take a shot at the end zone, you risk a sack or a turnover. We thought it was a very makeable field goal at 42 yards. There's an argument whether or not you could have snapped it to get one more play.
"In any event, we lost the football game and have to get ready for next week. It's a challenge every single week. We need a good week of preparation for next week.
"It looked like the kick was a little low and it looked like they got a little penetration on the right side. You see as it happens, passing by your eye, so you have to go back and take a look at it.
"We never had a situation where we felt overmatched or overwhelmed in any way shape or form. That's a talented football team from top to bottom. They have as much talent on the team as any in the country, maybe more."
Utah QB Jordan Wynn
"It's never fun to lose that way. We gave ourselves chances. We got that pass interference call. I thought we would be playing some more. It just didn't go that way."
(On wondering if Utah should've run a play prior to its last-second FG attempt)
"You go through that scenario in your head. I talked to coach Whittingham. You could run one more play, but you could end up with a pass inbounds without a timeout. We want to give our guys a chance but they ended up blocking it."
"We played hard all four quarters and did not give up. This is something you live for growing up. End of the game, fourth quarter, driving in the Coliseum to win the game. We just couldn't finish it."
(On Utah's defense)
"They gave us as many opportunities as they could. We just needed to score touchdowns. It was a little frustrating as an offense. We moved up and down the field the whole game but couldn't find a way to score points."
Utah DE Joe Kruger
"We gave the offense as many chances as possible. We got a lot of turnovers and played well, stopped the run. We got a good pass rush and just needed to capitalize on the turnovers, but it didn't happen."
(on bouncing back next week vs. BYU)
"It was our first Pac-12 game and obviously we're really disappointed. We'll watch the film and get better and next week get ready for BYU. We'll need to bring it. It will be exciting."
Utah CB Ryan Lacy
"The defense played every down, every snap like it was our last. We helped the offense and if the offense can't get the job done, as a defense, we help them get it done."
