         The state of Utah will declare Friday, July 1 as "Utah Pac-12 Day" in commemoration of the        official start of the Pac-12 Conference. Local, state and University of Utah officials, as        well as the Utah Marching Band and spirit teams, will lead a celebration of Pac-12 Day on        the south lawn of the Utah State Capitol at noon on July 1. Admission is free.
Nearly a year ago, on June 17, 2010, the Pacific-10 Conference extended an invitation for the University of Utah to become the 12th member of the prestigious conference. A week previously, Colorado had accepted a similar offer, marking the conference's first expansion since 1978.
On July 1, 2011, Utah and Colorado, along with former Pac-10 members Arizona, Arizona        State, California, Oregon, Oregon State, Stanford, UCLA, USC, Washington and Washington        State will be considered official members of the Pac-12 Conference. Fans from around the        state are invited to join in the celebration of Utah's Pac-12 Day on the Capitol        lawn.
