The Utah gymnastics team has formed a Leadership Council and the 2010-11 appointed members are seniors Jacquelyn Johnson and Kyndal Robarts, junior Stephanie McAllister and freshman Corrie Lothrop. The Leadership Council will serve as a liaison between the student-athletes and the coaches, communicating with both parties and helping to formulate and enforce team policies.
Johnson was Utah's Most Improved Gymnast last year, while Robarts was the 2010 MVP and McAllister was named Most Inspirational Gymnast. Lothrop, a 2008 U.S. Olympic alternate and three-year member of the U.S. National Team, will represent the seven freshmen on the team.
"Jacq, Kyndal, Steph and Corrie will do a great job of representing the team on several levels: as gymnasts, students and leaders," said co-head coach Greg Marsden. "All four are willing to speak their minds and do what it takes to make us a stronger team."
The Utes are currently participating in preseason training and conditioning. The first scheduled event is the Red Rocks Preview on Dec. 10 in the Huntsman Center. The first regular season meet is on Jan. 7 vs. UCLA in the Huntsman Center. Both events start at 7 p.m.
