COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Utah ski team saw 14 student-athletes selected as Mountain West Conference Scholar-Athletes for the 2009-10 academic year, the league announced this week.
Skiing's 14 athletes selected led all Utah teams. Eva Huckova's 3.99 GPA led the women while the men were paced by Torjus Krogdahl's 3.94 GPA. Also selected was Ian Havlick, Miles Havlick, Rose Kemp, Anna Kocken, Max Lamb, Marta Larsen, Sarah MacCarthy, Tom Smith, Devon Spika, Tague Thorson, Ryan Wilson and Thomas Zumbrunn.
Utah had a total of 65 student-athletes recognized.
The MWC Scholar-Athlete Award is one of the highest academic honors bestowed by the conference. To be eligible for selection, student-athletes must have completed at least two academic terms at the member institution, while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better, and have participated in varsity competition in an NCAA-sponsored sport.
