AUSTIN, Texas - The Utah men's diving team advanced to the final round of the 3-meter dive at the 2010 NCAA Zone Diving Championships Thursday, at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center, on the University of Texas campus. Unfortunately, the Ute women were unable to move past the preliminary round of 1-meter diving.
Freshman Chuen Li Foo (Hong Kong, China) earned the most points for the Utes today, scoring a 284.25 in the preliminary round of the 3-meter dive. Foo ended the day with a final score of 575.45 to earn 14th place overall.
Utah freshman Brandon Stoppelmoor (Olathe, Kan.) finished 23rd during the preliminary round of the 3-meter dive with a total of 236.40 points.
Junior Kwan Ling Yu (Yuen Long, Hong Kong) took 28th in the women's 1-meter preliminary round with a total of 228.60 points to lead the Utah women's squad, while freshman Ellis Walters (Indianapolis, Ind.) followed and finished 33rd with 221.25 points.
Competition resumes tomorrow at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center in Austin, Texas at 12 p.m. CT.
