SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah women's basketball team returns from an eight-day holiday break to ring in the new year against Utah State on Jan. 1, at 3:00 p.m. The game is Utah's last non-conference game of the season.
Utah will be hosting a poster making station to make signs for the game.
Utah is on a two-game winning streak after defeating New Mexico State, 72-62, in its last game. It is the first time Utah has won back-to-back games since opening the season with two-straight wins. Iwalani Rodrigues had her third 20-point game of the season with 26 points. Michelle Harrison had a career-high 12 rebounds.
The Utes lead the Mountain West Conference in scoring defense, holding teams to 55.8 points per game. Janita Badon tops the league in steals per game (2.9) and Rodrigues has a league-best .516 three-point field goal shooting percentage.
Utah State is 6-6 on the season. The Aggies have dropped two of their last three games, including an 80-50 loss to Wyoming in their last game. Ashlee Brown is USU's top player, averaging 13.9 points and 9.1 rebounds per game.
Although Utah leads the all-time series, 27-1, the Aggies got the better of the Utes last year in Logan, taking a 67-58 victory.
