HONOLULU, Hawaii - The University of Utah men's basketball team is enjoying its time in Hawaii as the Runnin' Utes prepare to compete in the 2010 Hawaiian Airlines Diamondhead Classic.
After arriving in Honolulu Monday evening, the Utes gathered for dinner and headed back to their hotel, the Moana Surfrider.
Utah practiced Tuesday morning at the Stan Sheriff Center on the campus of the University of Hawaii, where the tournament will be played. The players were then given several hours off to visit the beach, check out local shopping and get some rest.
Tuesday evening, Utah attended the tournament's welcome banquet along with the seven other teams in the event: Baylor, Butler, Florida State, Hawaii, Mississippi State, San Diego and Washington State. The teams were treated to a buffet dinner and a show called "Creation - A Polynesian Journey", featuring polynesian dancers and a flame-wielding performer.
The Runnin' Utes take on 2010 NCAA runner-up Butler Wednesday night at 6 p.m. HT, 9 p.m. MT. The game will be televised live on ESPNU and ESPN3.com.
