Utah's Brian Blechen and Brandon Burton were named the Mountain West Conference Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week, respectively today for their roles in Saturday's 17-16 win over Brigham Young. It is the third award of the season for true freshman Blechen, while Burton earns his first career honor.
Blechen registered seven tackles (three solo), a 15-yard sack, an interception and a pass breakup, while Burton's heroics included blocking a Cougar field goal attempt on the final play of the game to preserve Utah's victory. Burton also contributed three pass breakups and three tackles for the Ute defense.
