Anthony Levrets (Head Coach)
On what Utah did wrong in the first half -
"I don't think what we did was wrong, we were just hesitant. I think the difference between their team and our team is we have one experienced player, one upper classman that has the experience. And all of their upper classman have been involved in these kind of games their whole careers. They are just older and we have younger girls. It just takes a while to get into the feel of what that feels like."
"Shooting a basketball is not the same when there is nobody in the Huntsman Center and nobody is guarding you. It's a very different feel when you get the third ranked team in the country guarding you and I thought we adjusted, actually, rather quickly on the offensive end in the second half, and I was pleased. I'm not pleased with the outcome but I am pleased with the progress of our team.
On Stanford transfer Michelle Harrison's play -
"I wanted her to play well. She has been great to us and a really good teammate. We need to get her the ball more around the basket. "
On Utah's play overall -
"We were 7-for-26 from three and half of our shots were from three. We cannot play that way. We didn't get to the free throw line. We only had nine free throw attempts and they got 18. We just cannot play like that. We have got to get the ball inside and that's got to be a focal point for us for the rest of the year."
Taryn Wicijowski (So. F)
On what they expected from Stanford -
"We expected them to play big too, especially against us. They had their 6-4 shooting guard against us and it was exactly what we expected."
On what made the difference for Stanford -
"I think they wore us down a little bit and one-on-one in the post they got some easy baskets. And that's something we have to get better at is guarding the post."
Janita Badon (Jr. PG)
On shooting better in the second half -
"We started to listen to our coach more in the second half. We focused more on running our plays rather than doing our own thing."
On what Stanford did well -
"Their zone was good. I think we were just confused on how they were lined up. They were just so long and lanky, it threw us off a little bit until the second half."
On what this game says about Utah -
"Being so young and being this close to a team that is ranked so high, I think our potential is limitless. I mean, don't tell me the sky is the limit when there are footprints on the moon. I think this is going to build our chemistry because we know what we can do and how hard each other can work. I think it's just the beginning."
