The University of Utah gymnastics team has received three commitments for the 2012 season, co-head coaches Greg and Megan Marsden announced today. Junior Olympians Kailah Delaney (Yorba Linda, Calif.), Kassandra Lopez (Tucson, Ariz.) and Becky Tutka (Upper Black Eddy, Pa.) signed National Letters of Intent with Utah today.
They will compete for the only school to qualify for 35-consecutive national championships. The Utes have won 10 national championships and have placed in the top-three 22 times. Utah holds every gymnastics attendance record and led all women's sports last year by averaging 14,213 fans to its home meets.
"These are three solid all-around gymnasts," said co-head coach Greg Marsden. "While each has her own strengths, all three are capable of contributing on every event. Each has been well coached and has the potential to be an outstanding college gymnast. We are thrilled that they chose Utah because we believe they will help us continue our tradition of gymnastics excellence."
