Utah won its 21st game against a BCS school since the BCS began in 1998. Utah has more wins against BCS schools than any other NAQ team. Utah scored 60 points for the first time since defeating San Diego State 63-14 in 2008. The Utes' 68 points is the most since defeating Wyoming 69-14 in 1983 and the most it has ever scored against a team in a BCS conference.
Utah scored 50 points in three straight games for the first time since 2004. The Utes defeated New Mexico 56-14 and San Jose State 53-3. In 2004, Utah scored 63 points against UNLV, 51 points against San Diego State and 63 points against Colorado State.
Utah scored 31 points in the second quarter, which is the most points the Utes have scored in the second quarter since Utah started keeping that stat in 1968.
Shaky Smithson's 78-yard punt return in the first quarter is his longest punt return of the season and his third punt return of over 70 yards this year. The return was tied for the sixth-longest in school history.
Shaky Smithson threw a 32-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter to improve to 3-for-8 for 42 yards passing in his career.
Shaky Smithson had two catches for a career-high 75 yards. He caught a career-long 61 yard touchdown pass in the second quarter.
Reggie Dunn returned a kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter. It was the seventh 100-yard kickoff return in Utah history. The last 100 yard kick return for Utah was by Erroll Tucker in 1985 (he had two 100-yard returns that year). It is the first time that Utah has scored a touchdown on a kickoff return since Morgan Scalley against UNLV in 2004.
Jordan Wynn went 23-for-31 for 325 yards with two touchdowns and one interception at quarterback. It was his second career 300-yard game and his fifth career 200-yard game.
Brandon Burton made his first interception of the season in the third quarter, a 57-yard return. He has two career interceptions.
Justin Taplin-Ross made his first career interception in the fourth quarter, returning the pick 49 yards.
Joe Phillips extended his consecutive field goal streak to 16 with four field goals (23, 25, 22, 33).
DeVonte Christopher scored on a 32-yard reception in the second quarter. He had 124 receiving yards for his second 100-plus yard game of the season (career-high 155 yards against Pittsburgh).
Chad Manis led Utah and had a career-high nine tackles in the game.
Eddie Wide led Utah in rushing with 13 carries for 71 yards rushing. He also had two touchdown runs (two yards and five yards). Wide also caught four passes for 46 yards receiving.
Matt Asiata finished second on the team in rushing with 11 carries for 58 yards. He scored a touchdown on a 1-yard rush in the second quarter.
Eight players recorded carries while six players caught passes.
