LINCOLN, Neb.--The Utah gymnastics team spent most of Wednesday at practice and in interviews in preparation for the opening day of the 2009 NCAA Championships. The No. 2 ranked Utes will compete in the second of two preliminary team qualifying sessions on Thursday, April 16, starting at 7 p.m. CT (6 p.m. MT).
Nebraska will provide Live Scores and Video Streaming at Huskers.com and NCAA.com.
Utah, which has finished second at the last three NCAA Championships, is paired with Alabama, Oregon State, UCLA, Arkansas and Illinois on Thursday. The top three teams will advance to the Super Six team finals on Friday. Individuals will also qualify into another day of competition on Thursday: The top four finishers (including ties) from each of the two preliminary rounds will advance to the individual championships on Saturday. The only winner determined on Thursday will be for the all-around competition.
The Utes enter the meet with a 17-1 record, with their sole loss coming to four-time defending NCAA champion Georgia in Athens back on Jan. 19.
Utah's lineup for Thursday's NCAA competition, barring injury or illness, follows. At practice Wednesday, the entire team was healthy and participating.
