THIS WEEK
No. 2 ranked Utah (11-1) wraps up its regular season schedule on Friday in Provo, Utah, against Brigham Young (4-14). Meet time is 7 p.m. in the Marriott Center. The meet will be televised live on KBYU and BYUTV. Live scores and commentary will be hosted by UtahUtes.com.
PLANNING FOR POSTSEASON
The NCAA office will announce the regional destinations for 36 qualifying schools on Monday, Mar. 23 at noon MT. The regional championships will be held on Saturday, Apr. 4 on the campuses of Ohio State, Iowa, Alabama, Arkansas, North Carolina State and Washington. Qualification into regionals is as follows: The top 18 teams will be seeded based on regional qualifying score (RQS) and there will be three seeded teams in each regional. Hosts will remain in their respective regions, regardless of seed. Two teams from each region - or 12 total teams - will advance to the 2009 NCAA Championships in Lincoln, Neb., April 16-18. Team assignments on the first day of the NCAA Championships will be determined by National Qualifying Score (NQS), which is calculated by adding the RQS to the regional score. Teams will be ranked from 1 to 12 based on their NQS. Teams 1, 4, 5, 8, 9 and 12 will be placed in Group A; and teams 2, 3, 6, 7, 10 and 11 in Group B. If host Nebraska qualifies into the championships, the Huskers and their corresponding group will compete in the second session on April 16. If Nebraska does not qualify, a random draw will be used to determine teams' competition session.
