Utah Head Coach Jim Boylen
"I thought our defense in the first ten minutes was as good as it's been. We were helping each other, supporting each other. I thought that set the tone."
"I am thankful for the win, we needed it. Now we have to take this momentum and get better."
"I thought we got a little selfish on the offensive end and then in the defensive end. Young teams do that, and I don't like it. We have to work on that, playing 40 full minutes."
Senior center David Foster
"It felt nice to get the double-double. Especially because of the rebounds, it is Coach Boylen's biggest thing, playing defense and being tough on the boards. The points are something nice to get but the rebounds were what I came into the game with, wanting to get as many rebounds as I can."
"Seven of the rebounds came offensively, I think, because of the size difference. I was able to move around them and get the ball back out."
Junior forward Jay Watkins
"Our coaches prepared us well for this game with what they wanted us to do offensively. Our defensive intensity dropped a lot in the second half. We have to put two halves together, whatever the case, and that will take discipline."
Idaho State Head Coach Joe O'Brien
"We came out and failed to compete in the first half. We had a few shots blocked and we talked about that. We watched them on video tape and took note of the stats after the Weber State game and the fact that [Foster] had ten blocks against Weber."
"We didn't compete, especially at the offensive end of the floor. Defensively we gave up the basket way too many times. Our defense has been hit or miss all season. Offensively, we have played very well, coming off a road trip of shooting 59% against Kansas City and then shoot 25% in the first half. We can't dig a hole like we dug and pretend to be in the game."
"If we come out in the first half like we did in the second half, this is a pretty interesting basketball game. The second half we outrebounded them two to one. We shot 55% in the second half and hold them to 32%. I guess if there is a positive it's that we didn't quit, we came back and we competed in the second half. We have two more non-conference games ahead of us, and one half of basketball is not getting us ready for conference."
