Utah vs. Idaho State - Game Notes
SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah men's basketball team (3-4) looks to end its two-game skid Saturday against Idaho State (2-5). Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m. MT. The game also marks "Utah Uth Night," where kids under 12 will get in free.
Utah holds a 21-4 (.840) all-time record against Idaho State, including a perfect 13-0 record at home in the Jon M. Huntsman Center. The Runnin' Utes lost the last meeting between these two squads, a 72-68 result, in Pocatello, Idaho.
Utah is looking to bounce back from an 83-76 loss at Weber State last Wednesday. Sophomore center David Foster (Lake Forest, Calif.) registered a school-record 10 blocked shots, while senior forward Kim Tillie (Cagnes-sur-Mer, France) logged the first double-double by a Ute this year and the first of his career (20 pts/10 rebs).
The Bengals are coming off an 80-70 loss at Notre Dame. ISU is now 1-5 in away games this year, its lone road victory coming at UMKC on Nov. 28. Utah is 2-2 in home games this year.
Utah's top scorer is junior guard Carlon Brown (Riverside, Calif.), averaging 13.6 points per game to go with 5.1 boards. The Utes are led on the glass by Tillie at 6.6 rebounds per game, while junior forward Jay Watkins (Memphis, Tenn.) is averaging 5.7. Senior guard Luka Drca (Belgrade, Serbia) is the Utes' top assist man, averaging 4.3 helpers per game.
Idaho State is led offensively by Amorrow Morgan at 16.1 points per game. Demetrius Monroe is the Bengals' top rebounder at 8.3 per game, while Broderick Gilchrest is the top assist man at 3.0 per contest.
Utah head coach Jim Boylen is in his third season at the helm and holds a 45-29 (.608) record. Idaho State is coached by Joe O'Brien, now in his fourth year, with a 40-60 (.400) record.
