Head Coach Jim Boylen
"Our practices at full strength carried over to the game which is what you look for as a coach. I felt good about our practices and how we were working. Our guys were caring, our guys were trying and were willing. Any time you hold a team to 33-percent and 47 points, you feel good about it.
On players returning from injury:
"We tried keep them [David Foster and Jay Watkins] out of there at the end and try to ease them back in. I was really concerned with extending either one of them. Watkins had 14 minutes and was very productive, giving us energy. David went 20 minutes and had six blocks. They add to our toughness and our ability to defend and rebound. They put guys back in their place where they should be. We'll take it day by day with them. They are getting better.
On the play of Luka Drca:
"He has really wanted to lead this team as a defender, creator, passer, and scorer. Sometimes your scoring doesn't come around when you make that a priority. We need him to score; we need him to make shots. We are harder to guard when he is shooting the ball well. I knew it was a matter of time before he busted out. I didn't know when. You hope for it every night, but I hope he can build from there. He is a good shooter. He is a big shot maker. He did that last year making big shots at key times. He has never stopped working and grinding. He is there early in the morning, first person on the court and the last to leave. That to me is what we try to teach our guys: when you're struggling, you don't work less, you work more.
"He's got great feet and he is big. People don't realize he is 6-foot-5 and is big and strong. Since he is a ball-handling guy, you don't realize he has great anticipation and great toughness and is not afraid of physical contact. When you're like that you have a chance of being a great defender."
On the team needing to play with more consistency:
"This is a good time for us to level out. I've been very frustrated because we've had to expand our rotation. We've had to keep guys ready to play when other guys are questionable or doubtful. It's been a struggle, but I'm hoping we can get our rotation down and build this thing for the conference. We have one more non-conference game and then have a tough conference.
"I think you see glimpses of who we are or who we could have been having been healthy the whole time. That's a little frustrating for me, but we've got to get to that point. We have to move forward and not play backward."
Senior Guard Luka Drca
"This win was a big deal because we lost three in a row. Our conference starts in two weeks, so we needed to get back on the road of winning. We pulled this win out and it was big for us.
"I have been struggling with my shot throughout the season and it just happened that tonight I made most of my shots. I had everyone's back and they had my back too, so I felt confident in my shot.
"I have wanted to make all of them [shots] and that's not possible. I wanted a lot and put too much pressure on myself. I needed this game, but one game doesn't mean anything so we'll see what happens next. It was a big encouragement though."
Junior Forward Jay Watkins
"We took the scouting report to the court. We were prepared for the game and knew what they liked to do. They are a great shooting team, a great 3-point shooting team. That is one of their strengths, but we held them. They made a couple of early ones, but didn't get another one after that because we were there on the catch. We did a good job."
UTSA Head Coach Brooks Robinson
On the game:
"I thought Utah came out well tonight, I felt like we were a little flat and I felt they had a great game plan. I thought that they played well, you know they really did. I felt they hadn't been shooting as well as they are capable of shooting and I thought they found that stroke tonight. I think they are a very good team. They are young, very talented and very well-coached."
On his team
"I thought we would come in and play a lot better but we haven't played since the 18th and we had finals before that. We don't make any excuses, we don't have any excuses, Utah out-played us and deserved to win that game."
