SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah women's basketball team squares off against Oregon on Tuesday, Dec. 22, to close out 2009. Tip is at 7:00 p.m. The Utes will take a 10-day break from competition for the holidays following the game.
Utah has won five of its last six games and is coming off a 62-58 win over South Dakota State. Kalee Whipple had 25 points to lead the Utes, including 19 points in the second half.
The Oregon Ducks have rebounded in a big way since finishing with a 9-21 record a year ago. Under first-year head coach Paul Westhead, Oregon is 9-2 on the season. The team is coming off a 78-66 win at Wyoming on Sunday. Amanda Johnson is averaging a double-double with 14.8 points and 10.4 rebounds. Micaela Cocks (14.7 ppg) and Taylor Lilley (14.6 ppg) are also strong scorers for Oregon.
Oregon leads the all-time series, 9-4. Utah beat the Ducks in Eugene last year, 63-49.
