SALT LAKE CITY - After spending the week focused on their final exams, the Utah women's basketball team returns to the Huntsman court on Saturday, Dec. 19, against South Dakota State, beginning at noon. The game will be broadcast live on KALL 700 AM. Live stats and a video feed are available at UtahUtes.com.
The Utes (5-4) are coming off a 68-35 win over Westminster. Halie Sawyer had her second double-double of the season to lead Utah. The Utes held the Griffins to just eight points in the first half.
South Dakota State (5-4) is on a three-game winning streak, beating Western Illinois, IUPUI and Middle Tennessee State over the past week and a half. The Jackrabbits return four of their five regular starters from a year ago, when SDSU reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
Maria Boever leads South Dakota State in both scoring (14.7 ppg) and rebounding (7.1 rpg). Kristin Rotert is also averaging in double figure scoring with 12.7 points per game.
The all-time series with the Jackrabbits is tied 1-1. The Utes won the first meeting in 2007 in Salt Lake City, 67-59, before falling last year in Brookings, 70-58.
