Ute Gymnasts Win Academic Honors

A month after placing second at the 2008 NCAA Championships, the Utah gymnastics team came away with numerous academic awards. Seven Ute gymnasts were named NACGC/W Scholastic All-Americans. They were Kristina Baskett, Daria Bijak, Jamie Deetscreek, Katie Kivisto, Gael Mackie, Stephanie Neff and Ashley Postell.
The team's combined GPA for 2007-08 was a 3.5192. All 13 gymnasts (Baskett, Bijak, Deetscreek, Kivisto, Mackie, Neff, Postell, Annie DiLuzio, Jessica Duke, Jacquelyn Johnson, Nina Kim, Beth Rizzo and Kyndal Robarts) recorded a 3.0 or better GPA during the year to qualify for the Athletics Director's Honor Roll.
Baskett, Bijak, Deetscreek, Kivisto, Mackie and Postell also qualified for the Dean's List, which requires a minimum 3.5 GPA with 12 graded hours.
