Utah's Ashley Postell was named the AAI Senior Gymnast of the Year on a vote by the NCAA women's gymnastics coaches. She received the honor this morning at the annual NCAA Championships brunch.
Postell has earned a record 20 All-America awards in her career - the maximum possible and the most in NCAA women's gymnastics history.
She finishes an incredible career tonight at the individual event championships, where she will compete for the bars, beam and floor titles. Postell is the defending NCAA balance beam champion. Last night, she led Utah to its third-straight NCAA runner-up finish by winning the all-around, vault, bars and floor. On Thursday, she earned her third straight NCAA runner-up finish in the all-around, along with five All-America citations.
Even before tonight's competition, Postell had harnessed every Utah win record. She has 120 career victories and 30 career all-around wins. Her 47 wins this season is a school record, and she shares the school mark for all-around victories in a season with 11.
