University of Utah defensive lineman Paul Kruger has been named a second-team Freshman All-American by both the Sporting News and Scout.com. Kruger, of Orem, Utah (Timpanogos High), played in all 12 games, starting the last 10 at right end.
An honorable mention all-league selection, Kruger's 53 total tackles led the MWC's freshman defensive linemen. He also has six tackles for loss, two sacks, an interception, five pass breakups, three fumble recoveries and a forced fumble.
In other news, Ute defensive linemen Martail Burnett and Gabe Long were invited to play in the Hula Bowl on Jan. 12 in Honolulu.
