Nicolle Ford Named Utah Gymnastics Captain

Nicolle Ford, a seven-time All-America senior on the University of Utah gymnastics team, has been elected team captain for the second straight year by vote of her teammates. Ford served as co-captain with Kristen Riffanacht (now a student coach) on last year's NCAA runner-up team.
Ford will captain a team of 13 gymnasts, including fellow returning All-Americans Ashley Postell and Kristina Baskett, and six incoming freshmen. Postell finished as the NCAA all-around runner up at the 2006 NCAA Championships and was the only gymnast from any team to qualify for individual event finals on all four apparatus. Baskett won the NCAA uneven bar championship as a freshman last year.
The 10-time national champion Utes open their 2007 season at home against five-time NCAA champion UCLA on January 12. Another highlight of Utah's home schedule is the 2007 NCAA Championships, slated for a Huntsman Center booking on April 26-28.
