WEST LAYFAYETTE, IND. - The University of Utah men's swimming and diving team completed day one at the Purdue Invitational on Friday. In an invitational that features four separate dual meets, Utah leads Louisville and trails Georgia, Penn State and Purdue. "The guys are competing with a championship field," states Head Coach Michael Litzinger. "It is real exciting to compete in this event and we are doing well."
Utah turned in strong performances by Andrew Cole in the 200 back, finishing fifth with a time of 1:51.99. Also Marco Ferraro placed second in the 500 free with his time of 4:33.97. Diver Andrew Jones finished seventh in the three-meter diving and the Utes finished fourth in the 200-medley relay to highlight day one.
The two-day invitational will finish on Saturday, November 11. "Tomorrow is another big day for us and we expect to continue and compete well and try to make up some ground on the teams we trail and hold our lead on Louisville," comments Litzinger
